Developer Proceeds and Regional Tax Implementations
Effective August 27, developer earnings derived from eligible application purchases and In-App Purchases have undergone direct structural modifications in specific territories:
- Morocco: Implementation of a new 20% value-added tax (VAT).
- Republic of the Congo: Implementation of an 18% value-added tax (VAT).
- Tanzania: Digital sales tax (DST) rate elevated from 2% to 3%.
Alongside these alterations, Exhibit B of the Paid Applications Agreement is scheduled for formal revision to reflect that Apple will directly collect and remit applicable taxes on behalf of developers operating within Morocco and the Republic of the Congo. Translations of this updated legal agreement will be made accessible via the official Apple Developer website within one month.
Upcoming Storefront Pricing Updates
Beginning September 14, structural pricing adjustments for standard applications and In-App Purchases will take effect across Israel, Indonesia, Morocco, and the Republic of the Congo. These revisions apply automatically unless developers have explicitly designated one of these specific regions as the primary base storefront for their digital goods.
For developers who have selected Israel, Indonesia, Morocco, or the Republic of the Congo as their designated base storefront, local prices will remain static. However, pricing on all other international storefronts will be dynamically modified to preserve price equalization relative to the chosen base value.
Apple has confirmed specific exemptions regarding these upcoming September pricing adjustments:
- Auto-renewable subscriptions are completely excluded from these price changes across all regions.
- Storefronts where developers have opted to manually manage pricing instead of relying on automated equalization systems will remain unaffected.
Management and Availability Tools
Developers can review detailed scheduling and regional rollout times directly through App Store Connect, where the Pricing and Availability section has been updated to display impending modifications. Apple continues to provide developers with complete administrative autonomy, allowing them to manually adjust the pricing of their software, In-App Purchases, and recurring subscription tiers at any given time.
